CHARG Resource Center has a consumer-run speakers bureau. It was created to educate the public about mental illness, to reduce the stigma and misunderstanding that surrounds it, and to empower individuals to take control of their symptoms & their lives. The Speakers Bureau is available for presentations at community venues such as churches and schools, and for training specific groups such as law enforcement professionals. All presentations are free of charge.

“I am not my illness.
It plays a major role in my life
but it does not define me.
I can tell you about personal experiences
surrounding my illness and how it has
affected my life.
I can tell you how I came to be who I am
based on my interactions with others
and my life events, and I can relate
these experiences to my diagnosis.
I can also tell you where to get started
if you decide to seek treatment for yourself –
or a family member needing support”.
