Message from Executive Director

Dear friends,

As a community-centered nonprofit, we believe our community comes first. During the spread of COVID-19, we have the responsibility to protect the health and well-being of our consumers, employees, partners, staff, and community.

Beginning Monday, March 16th, CHARG Resource Center will be moving forward with the following limited operations and services plan for now.

  • The Drop-In Center is CLOSED at this time.
  • Our Heartland Clinic will continue limited services. We will not have the clinic itself open in order to minimize person-to-person contact, but our clinical staff will be using tele-health to connect with our consumers to keep people safe, healthy, and equipped with resources during this outbreak.
  • All group activities and classes are cancelled for now. Other options are being discussed to hold some groups virtually during this quarantine time; TBD which groups.
  • We will not hold our annual spring ‘Friends at CHARG’ breakfast that typically takes place in April. We will host a virtual event instead.
  • Staff and board members will use phone and video conferencing to continue to hold productive committee meetings and keep pushing our mission forward.

We’ll be continually monitoring the COVID-19 situation so that we can re-open when we’ve assessed that there’s a low risk to safety at CHARG. At this point the Mayor has issued a stay at home order in Denver effective until April 10th, 2020.  We will provide updates on this page as the situation changes.

Please know that these are not easy decisions as we provide a very social atmosphere at CHARG that people come to rely on. Being isolated and alone can be very difficult for many, especially in a time when there is so much fear and anxiety. I ask that you keep our consumers in your heart and top of your minds during this time of uncertainty.

Contact me at todd@charg.org or 720-316-4447 if you have questions, feedback, or concerns.

In health,

Todd Helvig, PhD
Executive Director
